When people ridicule you and talk behind your back,
When all that they notice are the things that you lack,
Realize that you have more than you can’t possibly ignore,
Being alive in this earth is a great privilege and so much more.
We all have our weaknesses yet we also have our being,
We travel in this journey and court the darkness for our knowing,
Yet when the truth we have inside is twisted to make us look wicked,
Stand fast in the light and let them see you naked.
Let people see the light you bear beyond the clothes that you wear,
Let them see you pained heart yet courageous and fair,
Let them close their eyes so they can listen with their hearts,
Let them shut their ears until all the deception depart.
Much more is to be gentle with yourself and believe in the good,
Adversity will nourish the soul until all is understood,
Time will heal the wounds and make us stronger by the day,
Just keep on keeping on in the struggle for a new day.
