What does it really mean to be happy? This is a continuing question for me and the answers are growing inside of me. For many, happiness seem to be the ultimate question in life. And when one can sincerely say yes to the question, “Are you happy?”, everything seems to have been resolved. When two friends meet after a long time, after updating each other on what they have been doing all these years, the ultimate question is popped in the end, “Are you happy?” And if you can say yes, all the wrongs that you have done may have seemed right. Yet for others, happiness does not matter but rightness. It doesn’t matter if you are sad but if you are doing right, no matter how sad, then all seems okay. For others still, the ultimate value is not happiness or even rightness. It is perfection. If one is able to reach his highest being and potential, then happiness is just an end result of the hard struggle for perfection. Yet still for others, happiness is not at the end but starts even now. Happiness is the realization of being alive and every moment counts. It is simply a state of being and a choice. The most intriguing insight i got from a friend is that happiness is just simply remembering who we really are as souls…. How about you? What do you think happiness really is?
