What is Peace? What does peace really mean for you? For me, peace is not just the absence of war, but the presence of justice. Peace does not mean refraining from conflict but resolving conflict by promoting justice and equality. Peace does not mean silence for it is the peace of the cemetery, the peace of the dead, brought about by fear of repression. Peace does not mean unity only for the sake of unity but unity for the sake of goodness and just causes. Peace does not only mean the empty stillness of the mountain but also the majesty of the flowing river. It is not an escape from the storm but the silent center amidst the cyclone. Peace is not sameness and homogeneity but peace is the color of the rainbow, diversity in harmony, dynamic oneness. Peace is not static stillness but dynamic growth. Peace is that which words are not enough, it’s a fullness and emptiness at the same time, a joyful sadness, it is that which surpasses understanding. Peace be to you!
