My father is a great singer and writes, composes and then sings his own songs. He has written hundreds of songs in Punjabi. Because of his keen interest in music and singing my elder sister did her masters in music in 1982-3, during these times my younger sister also started learning music and started it academically at school in grade 6 in 1981. She also finished as MA (Music in and as Gold Medalist, the University Topper from Punjbai University of Patiala).
She won 3 National Level Awards in Interstate (the National level) University Youth Functions. She won 3 Gold Medals and is also Gold-medalist in PG Diploma in Sanskrit language.
Thus, my father and sisters are my first teachers in my writing, composing and singing songs in 3 languages namely Hindi, Punjabi and English.
I can also sing Kirtan as all of our family members have been doing from childhood. basically ours is a family of artists with others interests like Science, Math, Literature, Philosophy and many more.
My younger sister is well versed in music, and has sung with many great Indian singers, but the elder one is popular as daughter of goddess of music, the Sarsvati Ji. She also lives in Mumbai and Patiala during the various times of the year. Thanks!
