Did you know that in an experiment rats treated with chromium supplements lived an average of one third longer than usual. Probably, the most important reason to take chromium supplements is that it balances blood sugar. In other words, insulin resistance can be a result of aging. Researchers have found that taking chromium picolinate lowered blood glucose levels without a restrictive diet. By stabilizing blood glucose levels and improving insulin uptake, chromium actually helps to combat aging. Chromium improves the body’s ability to fight infection. It works to lower triglycerides and LDL cholesterol and raises HDL cholesterol. It has been found to assist in the prevention of heart disease. Chromium is found in brewer’s yeast, whole grains, orange and grape juice, broccoli and thyme.
