Why am I so unlucky in love? How do I know if my partner is “the one”?  Is my soulmate really out there somewhere or am I destined to be single for the rest of my life?

Spiritual astrologer and author Kate Rose empowers readers to answer these questions and more in her new book Written in the Stars: The Astrology of Soulmate, Karmic, and Twin Flame Relationships (New World Library, September 10, 2024).

We hope you will enjoy this Q&A with Kate about the book.

Tell us about your book Written in the Stars and what inspired you to write it.

Written in the Stars introduces three kinds of love we can experience in our lifetime. It helps readers understand what type of relationship they are currently in and areas they might need to focus on to change unfulfilling or unhealthy patterns through their birth charts. By being able to feel validated in what they have experienced, readers have the opportunity to change their lives in the ways that their soul is seeking.

You say that the unique astrology we were born with shows us what we are meant to experience and learn in this lifetime.  Please tell us more.

Each person has a unique astrology that is represented by their personal birth chart, which depicts where each planet was at the precise time of birth. In many ways, the birth chart also represents the soul contract for each one of us as it reveals the childhood wounds we were meant to experience as well as why we have been attracting certain types of relationships in our lives. Ultimately, the birth chart for each one of us helps us to understand that there was never anything wrong with us, and that truly there have been no mistakes, we have all just been traveling a path our soul agreed to before we even entered this world.

Please give us a brief description of the three kinds of relationships that you write about in the book.

Each person will experience three different types of love in their life, which isn’t just based on our personal lessons but also truly represents an evolution in our own development. As we grow, learn and even heal, so does the type of love thatwe are attracted to, because in relationships who we attract also becomes the teacher that we need at any given point.

The first love is the soulmate, this is someone who is part of your soul family, and oftentimes there are many similarities. These similarities can be from a similar background, geographic area or even share the same view of love and life. But ultimately, to be able to identify our own truth and figure out what it means to authentically be ourselves, we will have to make the choice to separate from our soulmate. Because this is the relationship that represents the child, leaving this relationship also represents our choice to grow into who we are meant to become. This is the love that looks right.

The second love is karmic, and often is attracted after the soulmate relationship ends. In this phase we are very muchembodying our inner teenager. We are rebellious, craving excitement, passion, and the kind of love that we have always dreamed of. But what we attract is a relationship to heal the wounds that we acquired early in our life. This dynamic and connection is often incredibly strong, oftentimes feeling as if there is an addiction or even that life would be over if there was a separation. But this bond isn’t because it is meant to last forever, but so that you can remain in this connection and actually heal the wounds that have been preventing you from having a healthy relationship and fulfilling life. Ultimately, this relationship ends when you realize what you are worthy of receiving, and when you stop looking for others to give you what you have always desired; instead making the choice to give it to yourself. This is the love that you wished was right.

And the third love, your twin flame, is the love of two healing adults coming into union and wanting to approach relationships differently. As you move through the phases of your life, this is the point where you possess more awareness of yourself and your needs, you’re able to advocate for yourself in a healthy way, and because of that you are able toexperience the true magic that love is meant to represent. It may come unexpectedly, or seem to be too good to be true, but this love is the one that has been meant for you all along and it’s the love that just feels right.

You say that the choice to part ways with a soulmate is the beginning of the journey to learn who you genuinely are.  Can we discover our true selves if we choose to stay with our soulmate?

Everyone in this life is in a different lifetime and has a different purpose, but yes, as long as we remain in our soulmate relationship, we will never find out who we truly are or live a life based on authenticity. It may be a perfectly good life, but it doesn’t mean that more doesn’t exist beyond our comfort zones. In fact, many of those in older generations, married and remained with their soulmate for their entire life, but that also represents more of the evolution that we individuallyand as a collective, humanity are progressing through as we are learning and being given opportunities to embrace our truth and live the life that is a part of that.

Soulmate

You say that even though we only fall in love three times, that doesn’t mean we will only have one karmic relationship. Tell us more about that please.

While we only have three types of love, it does not mean that we will only fall in love three times. Again, we will keep attracting the teacher until the lesson is learned, so we can attract multiple soulmates if we are still learning to choose the path of our truth. We will attract multiple karmic relationships if we resist the lessons of worthiness, boundaries and self-validation which are attributed to our early wounding or conditioning. But, we will only have one twin flame, because in that space, we are attracting someone based on the unique vibration we are sending out that is based on the healing and growth we have already progressed through.

What advice do you have to offer someone who wants to call in their Twin Flame?

To call in your twin flame, it first is beneficial to reflect on all you’ve learned. Are you in touch with your authentic truth? Does it feel like you are living that as part of your daily life? Are you aware of how your childhood wounding and conditioning has affected your journey and the choices you’ve made? And have you made the choice to give yourself what you have always sought from others? Making sure that we are in a place where we are living our truth, and also giving ourselves what we’ve always needed is the first step to calling in a twin flame, because it’s the vibration that attracts this love into our life. Then it comes down to the practical choices you are making; are you on dating apps, or putting yourself in new situations to meet people? Are you responding to messages or dinner invites? Even if you don’tthink theylooklike someone you would be with? And finally, you can also set an intention on a New Moon in your Moon Sign, while still honoring yourself and practically putting yourself out there, to help call in this new love, and mostimportantly, to allow yourself to believe that it is possible.

What do you most hope that readers will take away from your book?

I hope that readers will take away the truth of their own lives from Written in the Stars, and that this truth allows them to become healthier and happier so that they can realize love was never meant to be hard or fought for – but simply received with an open and worthy heart.
