Hello, I’m Patrick from Vancouver Washington and my Goodness tip to everybody is that Money Isn’t Everything. Easy come, easy go …everyone has skills and talents that they can fall back on. If you follow through on what you’re Good at and what you have passion the money will come and I don’t think its so Good to focus on the money, it’s Good to focus on what you are really passionate about. Make the World A Better Place Through Your Passions and the money will follow!

What’s the first thing most people ask one upon introduction after our name? “What do you do?” Our jobs can define us as people. Work is what we make of it. Most people I am around act like work makes them miserable. I work for a railroad. Railroaders tend to have a pretty random schedule that takes away normal weekends and social/family time. A lot of the guys at the railroad claim they hate their job and primarily due to the “us versus them” mentality between management & labor, not to mention the stress it puts on their families. I personally find that 2 big factors influence my attitude at work:
1) Who I am working with on that particular day and
2) If other parts of my life are getting interrupted due to work.
It also helps if I am well rested and have a positive mental attitude at the start of my day. A conscious mental shift helps me adjust my attitude; for example:
Most of the guys at work complain when they have to do some job-related walking;
I look at the same task as an excuse to get some exercise. Etc.
Before I worked at the railroad I had worked in hurricane disaster recovery for a telecom company, so I have seen the worst; sadly, disasters tend to be those rare kinds of situations that bring out the best in people. Wouldn’t it be great if we could contribute our best to society all the time? Imagine a world where we help each other out & live to make everybody’s life better, all the time, not just our own & not just during disasters. The potential of our world is amazing!
“Stop to smell the roses.”
People need to slow down & take a moment to really take it all in, and see how beautiful the world can be. We need to think about how lucky we are to be here, alive & healthy enough to enjoy the moment. We need to be thankful for everything and everyone who is a part of our life: whether it be our dog, our neighbors, our friends, our family, etc.
