Hi Everyone,
Loved the posts I've read; My husband passed away 12 years ago and I was at a loss of what to do. I decided that the one thing I did want to do was to help people; As always when you put something out to the Universe it responds. Things happened and I found myself starting a massage school. Owning and running a massage therapy school is hard but worth the effort when I see how it changes the lives of our students and in turn how they can help others through touch. I'm living my dream of helping others and with each graduate more and more people are being helped.
We are a rough deprived society and massage therapy is helping change that. I believe that people are now understanding how important receiving massage is to their well being. When I started the school in 2002 our graduates found it very hard to find jobs and/or clients. Now our graduates are finding work right after graduation with spa, doctors, chiropractor and private clients.
One of the biggest differences I see in our therapists is that they have been taught massage based on the mind, body & spirit and it connection to the healing process. You can have the greatest technique in the world but if you don't connect to your client as a whole person - mind, body & spirit - you won't get the best results. A very important component of any type of bodywork is your intention to help the client heal themselves.
I don't know of any other profession where you can help others and yourself at the same time. Our therapists always say they feel as good as the client after a massage. It's also a profession that does no harm if you stay within the boundaries of you knowledge.
So keep on massaging and don't forget to get massaged yourself. You can't take care of others if you aren't taking care of yourself.
Blessed be,
Camille
