Ask the question, "Is there is any way at all to re-use this?"
I have found many uses for un-recyclable plastic food containers, sandwich bags and the like. If I don't think of a use for it right away, usually in time something will come up.
When discarding food packaging whether recyclable or not ask yourself, "What can I buy next time that has less material or is less wasteful?"
I am finding that eating more raw food, buying in bulk, and making foods from scratch uses alot less packaging material and therefore better for the planet.
I know this is an older post, but I want to respond because I love this!
We try hard in our hard to reduce our waste by reusing pet food bags and bread bags for other purposes. I find sandwich bags to get a bit funky sometimes - what do you do with those?
We will be repurposing our cans for a hanging garden in the backyard, and we are saving up our wine bottles to use them as vases in our wedding ceremony!
I completely agree that it's important to consider reusing items before tossing them. I've also found that many everyday items can have a second life with a little creativity. Your approach to reducing waste by eating more raw foods and buying in bulk is inspiring! I’m definitely going to think more about my purchasing choices and how I can minimize packaging in the future. Let’s keep sharing ideas on how to live more sustainably!
