This past weekend and the next couple days are and will be celebrated at various levels not just locally in parades and on tv but across this nation and even beyond it.
So much of this celebration is the result of the strength of ones dreams, the determination to follow, and the faith that no matter what the dream is worth it.
Whether you like or dislike these celebrations when you think about the journey, the process, the dreams themselves and their results it is inspiring, it is in a sense what one author, Rudolf Otto, described as 'Numinous' awe-inspiring and beyond what many consider typical.
Which is what lends me to ask about your dreams, and for me to delve into my own.
Do you know what your dream is, the broad one that reaches other people and lifts than up as well as the one that is for your daily and even weekly practice?
There are psychological debates about the 'action' and usefulness of terms such as wishing, hoping, wanting - some Life Coaches and others will state that they do not have an active strength... perhaps as Tony Robbins says they 'must be musts' even 'will' and of course the 'attitude of gratitude'...
Where are your dreams? What is the state that they are in and why? Have you been active in pursuing and creating the moment for your dreams?
The dreams of MLK and of countless others that we honor and acknowledge were dreams we see as having had great value, they were of such importance that despite time, struggling, setbacks, and even knowing they have not yet fully been actualized, we are aware of their necesity.
Have you seen your dreams as being of necessity? Have you found their great value that you know, believe, and have the faith they must be achievied?
Take a few moments in the near future to write down your dreams, to look through them and think about them, to be more intimately aware and working towards them. Perhaps you will find how much of your dreams is right beside you, perhaps you will find that some of the dreams are not quite what you actually desire and you will alter them, perhaps you will see that you need to alter your actions if you are going to reach them. No matter what occurs be thankful for them, be grateful for the gift of dreams...and be grateful of the dreams of others!!
