Ah, "Free bird," such a beautiful song isn't it. Why can't we all be free? Be nice wouldn't it. But such a crock. For - No one is truly free! We're not even allowed what they say "freedom of speech anymore." We're lucky if we are even free in our own homes.
Whenever I hear that song, I like to turn it up full blast & just imagine that we all are free just like a Bird. Being able to fly - being able to fully live life, even if it’s just for a Moment - being able to be ourselves without judgement. Being able to be silly, goofy or whatever. Just as long as we're not deliberately hurting anyone. Shame, but it's always short lived.
One day when I did have my nice convertible. I allowed my oldest daughter to drive it with the top down. I was in the car with her. We were on this little highway, with no traffic, & I told her to just "kick it down." Let herself flow with the wind. And naturally this song was playing as well.
It took her a little bit to be able to do that. For she really is a good driver. But when she did it, I was like "Yeah, you go~go~go!" Set yourself free - even if it’s just for A brief Moment. It was exhilarating for me to watch her
allow herself to be that "free."
Likewise I had this old Camero once that had T-tops & sometimes when it was a light rain, I would take those off & drive like the wind, with it raining inside. It was pretty Awesome.
Life is too short to live in prison, even within ourselves. I'm not suggesting to go out & do something stupid. Nor am I implying that we shouldn't be responsible either. But it would be nice to be free more often - than a prisoner most of our lives. What's wrong with having a "kindred spirit?"
I guess the reality of it is: "We are all mostly prisoners one way or another." Yet even so, it really is nice to allow ourselves to just be silly, goofy or what ever - even if it is just for a "brief moment."
I'm living in the wrong era.
I think I'll end this with a couple of old quotes: "LIFE"
Life is but a day at most. by Burns
Which passeth by, and leaves no print behind: by Sandys.
So remember, sad but true: "We are all dust in the wind." by CJC
