I first started to see Her "the Ghost" when I was seven. Everynight before bed my Dad read a story to my sister and I. I remember when the story ended I would tell my Dad that I was afraid and didn't want to go to bed. He would ask me what I was afraid of and I would tell him "dead people". His answer was "it is not the dead you have to worry about, it is the living; there is nothing to fear but fear itself". (Still don't know if I can comprehend that one....wonder how that seven year old did it)...so that became our night time ritual.
I was allowed the luxary of sleeping with the bathroom light on. In bed, I surrounded myself with as many stuffed animals as possible and tucked myself under my quilt with only my eyes peering out. I didn't have a clock in my room but somehow I knew what time to expect my ghostly friend every night. Around the time of her appearance I would crawl out of bed and head into the hall and sit by the bathroom door with weapon in hand....a blue plasic gun that shot rubber be-be's. Yes, I thought it would protect me from the ghost....what can I say I was a mere child.
When the time came she appeared in my parents bedroom doorway, stopped, looked my way, and continued down the stairs. She was a midst but well-defined. She looked as though she came from a time period of the past wearing a gown that rose from her neck to her feet. Her hair pulled up in bun. After she disappeared down the stairs, the rest of the I lay in bed listening to footsteps going up and down the stairs. This went on night after night! The procedure was always the same.
Wow! I understand the comfort of those stuffed animals!
thanks for sharing... sounds like you have some stories to share.
Love it already!!! Those Blue Plastic Rubber BB Guns; are the standard ghost repelling issues all of us 7 year olds used here on the west coast too. The Red ones; were used more for hand to hand combat as the Red color was very distracting to your attacker. Not only can you take an eye out with both, but rubber BB’s are very slippery on staircases
I don't know i quite believe in ghosts...I'll have to hear a few more stories before i decide. but hat must have been scary at the age of 7.
Not to worry....I have plenty more stories. Age: 7yrs was only the beginning. It was scary but it toughened me up; I don't scare so easily these days.
