What’s a recent outdoor experience that helped you feel more connected to yourself or to the world around you?

Honestly, I think it was today. I was just sitting on my porch watching birds at the feeder and a downy woodpecker was assessing my threat level. I guess he decided I wasn't a threat, so he landed on the feeder that was only three feet from me. Brave bird! This experience overall reminded me how much I enjoy watching birds live their life. I appreciate nature so much, even if it's just on my front lawn.

@laurat That sounds like such a peaceful and beautiful moment! It’s amazing how nature has a way of reminding us to slow down and appreciate the small things. Watching birds like that is a perfect example of how even the simplest interactions with nature can bring so much joy and peace. It’s moments like these that make us truly appreciate the world around us.

@laurat Nature is amazing, isn't it? Whenever I'm in nature, just walking in the park or on a field or better yet, in a forest, I feel so alive. It's like I get energy from the trees, the wind, the sun, the singing of the birds. All the sounds are pleasant - it's like nature did everything so right, so beautiful!

I don't know if it qualifies as an outdoor experience but back when I was in high school I went to my grandparents for a few weeks in the summer. They live in a rural area, with lots of trees and hills. It was a great experience for me. I had two other buddies and we would stay outside until dark, playing all sorts of silly, cool games. We would run, and hide and sometimes just sit and listen to the river flow and the birds sing. It was, in a word, "marvelous". I had so much energy and felt so happy then.

I remember going camping with my parents when I was a kid. Dad taught me fishing, making a fire, putting up a tent and many other smaller things that I haven't forgotten. Being there, in the wild, with my mom and dad is still one of my most cherished memories. I wish all children would have such memories, with their parents, without distractions like phones or tablets, just them and the wild.

Great question ❤️  I've been blessed with many meaningful outdoor experiences, but one that comes to mind was a delicious canoe adventure with a sweet friend who lived on lake in Whistler Canada. It was most magical with the brilliance of the stars and their shimmering reflection on the water.

Great question Ahsan. This will require some deep thought on my part.
