A chip shot is a low shot that is played along the ground and spends little time in the air. Chip shots are generally hit close to the green where the golfer does not need to carry the ball very far in the air and just wants to get the ball started and let it roll out towards the hole like a putt. A putt is a golf shot played with a putter on the putting green.

Golf is a game of precision and accuracy. The difference between a good golfer and an average one comes down to their mastery of different shots. However, for beginners, some shots can be quite confusing, especially when it comes to the putt and chip shot.

A putt is performed on or around the green area, where the objective is to hit the ball into the hole using a putter. This is usually done with short swings that require little power but lots of accuracy. On the other hand, a chip shot involves hitting the ball from outside the green area, with an iron club towards a specific target location. It requires more power than putting but less than full swings.

In simple terms, putting requires less force and more finesse while chipping involves more force but still needs accuracy. Both shots are necessary to complete any round of golf successfully.
