I really don't like being with someone who isn't also vegan or at least health-conscious. When we met I wasn't vegan, and now I am and have been for about 5 years.
I just feel like he treats his body like a trash can. We've gotten into so many arguments about it. He eats way too much sugar and smokes and it's just so irritating. I know you can't change someone, they have to want to change...
But it just sucks watching someone you love deteriorate

What you shared sounds as if it can be challenging at times. Fortunately, you've made a wonderful choice for a kinder, healthier world. And your choices and encouragement likely help him.
I can't claim the Vegan title, however, practiced some form of vegetarianism for almost 20 years now. I've found that if someone is a hardcore carnivore or isn't health conscious that we generally are better off in a friendship capacity. Fortunately, most of my friends are health-conscious and half of them practice a plant-based diet or are at least respectful of my diet choices while dining.
Has he tried some of the vegan options such as Beyond Meats? I find that they give me the same satisfaction that I had when eating meats.
