I believe there are two simultaneous processes occurring on our planet. Each affects the other. Each is increasing at an accelerating rate.

The first process is disintegrative. I believe disunity is the disease of our time. All the myriad problems we face, extremely grave though they are, are merely symptoms of this increasingly destructive disease.

The second process is integrative. Unity is the Spirit of this New Day in human history! Due to advances in communication, transportation, technology, trade, and other factors, all the nations are becoming increasingly interdependent. No one has the power to stop this integrative process, just as no one has the power to stop the rising of the sun.

The more the world's leaders and other people try to resist the irresistible integrative process, the greater the suffering that will be required to unite the human race.

It took a terrible Civil War to bind all the States into the United States. How much more suffering will be required to unite humanity!

Cheer up! Things are going to get worse!

But I firmly believe that permanent SPIRITUAL world peace through world unity is INEVITABLE!

I see world unity as the next and final stage of the advancement of human society on this planet. We started out as families. Then we became tribes. Then there were city-states. Then came nation-states. I believe we are now in an age of transition from the nation-state to a spiritual world civilization whose foundation will be the oneness of humanity; whose standard will be undeviating justice and unconditional love; whose watchword will be "unity in diversity"; and whose glory and majesty we cannot even imagine at the present time.

Humanity, like an individual, has grown from infancy, to childhood, to adolescence. We are now beginning to come of age as we enter adulthood.

Humanity has turned twenty-one! We have our greatest and longest period of growth and development ahead of us!

True, we still act like immature teenagers.

Nevertheless, the human race, however much undetected, is steadily moving forward with every passing day to achieve its glorious destiny.

Baha'u'llah (1817-1892), Founder of the youngest of the major world religions, the Baha'i Faith, wrote, "The whole earth is now in a state of pregnancy."

Death is birth: we can't have one without the other.

When a baby is born into this world, she is "dying" with respect to her life in her mother's womb where she happily lived for nine months. She leaves that life forever, as she enters this life, having no idea this life even exists.

Our old ways of living are dying right before our eyes. We are experiencing increasingly severe labor pains as we give birth to a most beautiful planetary culture.

Being a man, I cannot imagine the extreme pain women experience when they give birth! In my opinion, women are the stronger sex!

But when the baby finally comes out of the mother's womb, the mother, father, and others gaze on the baby with unconditional love and supreme happiness.

Imagine how much love and happiness the human race will experience when it finally gives birth to this future global civilization!
