I have become involved with the Hike for Discovery. I would greatly appreciate it if you would be willing to send this to anyone you think may want to help.
The Hike For Discovery is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s fundraising program that prepares hikers to embrace Grand Canyon National Park for an entire day. While training, I’m raising funds to help the Society cure blood cancers.
My goal is to raise $5,000 between now and April 27, (though the sooner the better. On feb 26th we will be asked if we think we can make the money. If we say yes and don’t make it- we owe it. If we say no, we get removed from the program. I am only $13 to my goal so far.) The money raised goes to research lymphoma and leukemia.
Here are some important facts about leukemia and lymphoma.
-Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns that they have leukemia or lymphoma.
-Every nine minutes, a child or adult dies from one of these blood cancers.
-Leukemia is the leading cancer killer of children between the ages of 1 and 15. Lymphoma and leukemia are the leading fatal cancers in women and men under 35.
-Leukemia is the most common cancer in children and adolescents.
