Spirituality is a paradoxical thing. On one hand, you have to work for it, on the other hand you have to let go. And you have to do both. Mind boggling, isn’t it?
Oh well, just the same here are some of my insights for living the spiritual life.
1. Learn to act without desiring the fruit of action. Act with passion and abandon– a mix of intensity and detachment. Throw your whole life into your work until its done and then drop it with no thought about its results. Bhagavad Gita would put it as action in inaction and inaction in action. Taoist philosophy would state it as wu wei– doing nothing you do everything.
2. The spiritual man no longer regards the self as an individual pursuing selfish ends but as a channel of divine life. One considers the self as an expression of divine life and thus expresses this divinity as perfectly as possible.
3. Affirm goodness in all things and cultivate a deep reverence for all life.
