Dave is the guy whose back is turned. The person I’m smiling at in this picture. Dave turned 62 this year. He traveled to Costa Rica by himself, with his guitar, and walked up and down the beaches looking for people to sing and play music with. I wish he was walking up and down my street today, on this cloudy Monday, strumming Beatles tunes and , singing along jovially.

A lot of art will be created out of this time, surely. The portals of creativity will be expanded, as they have in the past, whenever our souls have been squeezed by life events. It’s as if the spirit within us is making the proclamation “I am here”. We need the inspiration. We need the love. We need to be like Dave, walking the unknown paths, not afraid because we are accompanied by the essence of our being, which is abundantly creative and can alchemize our outer circumstances into meaningful expressions that can then be added to the tapestry of life.

My hope is that we can wake up further to see that our eyes, ears, senses and perceptions are the paintbrushes of life, and that each thing we pay attention to is colored a little more vibrantly by how we are painting that picture. My hope is that we can see how attention itself is the co-creative mechanism by which life emerges. My hope is that, by awakening to the spiritual truth that we are both Creator AND Created, we can be stunned by the beauty of our world in much the same way that a Lover gazes sweetly upon their Beloved. My hope is that we experience more and more of life as this supreme, cosmic act of love making.

I hope that we can be more like Dave. I hope that we can make more love (to life itself) than ever before.
