About Me
Lauri Moody, NMD (Naturopathic Medical Doctor)
Dr. Moody received her education from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe. She has helped many lose weight, feel better, sleep better, balance hormones, feel younger and more energetic, and find relief from both acute and chronic ailments. Each weight loss patient is treated individually with customized lifestyle and nutritional counseling. Dr. Lauri offers her patients diet program options, however most patients follow either 3- or 6-week, physician-supervised weight loss program to reach their target weight quickly and easily, with the ultimate goal of permanent weight loss and improved health through changes that last a lifetime. Every avenue is explored to ensure the cause of weight gain is discovered and addressed.. Dr. Moody is licensed in the Ultra Lite Weight Loss for Life , voted the #1 by readers of Slimming Magazine! Once goal weight is reached, nutritional imbalances, food allergies, and specific medical conditions that may contribute to re-gaining weight are pinpointed and treated. Each patient meets with the doctor at least monthly to evaluate their progress and make any necessary modifications to their treatment plan. A patient’s weight loss plan may include prescription medications (appetite suppressants). If so, Dr. Moody implements the latest FDA-approved prescription weight loss medications. She also carries physician-only lines of quality nutritional supplements. Hormone balancing with hCG hormone injection therapy is often a part of the program if Dr. Lauri feels there may be a hormonal component to their condition. I hope that you’ll take a minute to learn a bit about what Naturopathic Medicine is! Naturopathic Medicine is the philosophy of treating disease and restoring health using natural therapies. It strongly promotes prevention in health care and a non-invasive approach to treatment including: acupuncture and oriental medicine, homeopathy, botanical medicine, nutritional counseling, mind-body medicine, hydrotherapy and physical medicine. More about my interests and Naturopathic Medicine: The six principles that guide the therapeutic methods and modalities of naturopathic medicine include: First Do No Harm – primum non nocere Naturopathic medicine uses therapies that are safe and effective. The Healing Power of Nature – vis medicatrix naturae The human body possesses the inherent ability to restore health. The physician’s role is to facilitate this process with the aid of natural, nontoxic therapies. Discover and Treat the Cause, Not Just the Effect – tolle causam Physicians seek and treat the underlying cause of a disease. Symptoms are viewed as expressions of the body’s natural attempt to heal. The origin of disease is removed or treated so the patient can recover. Treat the Whole Person – tolle totum The multiple factors in health and disease are considered while treating the whole person. Physicians provide flexible treatment programs to meet individual health care needs. The Physician is a Teacher – docere The physician’s major role is to educate, empower, and motivate patients to take responsibility for their own health. Creating a healthy cooperative relationship with the patient has a strong therapeutic value. Prevention is the best “cure” Naturopathic physicians are preventive medicine specialists. Physicians assess patient risk factors and heredity susceptibility and intervene appropriately to reduce risk and prevent illness. Prevention of disease is best accomplished through education and a lifestyle that supports health.
