Getting a piece of mail that is not a bill or junk mail is beautiful. It’s just doesn’t get any better than that. You can keep it forever and cherish something that someone handwritten that took them time and effort to take a pen to paper and write it down and then put your address on it and then put it in the mail. And then you get to receive it as a surprise and you get to open it and read it realizing that this person just spent their time writing me a letter out of their time. And it’s just beautiful…especially from your loved ones…to be able to experience that is just priceless!
We don’t get that through a text message or Facebook or any of these social media websites. Even a phone call is not the same. You don’t get to hold onto a phone call, but you do get a hold on to a letter. It’s a physical thing. Your intention set into a piece of paper. That is why I have written my grandma for 10 years without even talking to her on the phone. I have those conversations forever. If something happens to her…I have those letters forever. Even my friends it’s special as I can go to those letters anytime and there it is. It’s something personable.
