Detailed Information
Vitamin E supplementation (natural) can restore the immunity levels of an older person to those of a much younger person. In a study conducted at Tufts University, daily doses of 400IU to 800IU of Vitamin E were administered to people over the age of 60 whose immune responses were declining. After 30 days, this trend was reversed and many people’s immune responses had returned to youthful ranges. White blood cells had increased by 10 to 50 percent. Furthermore, other immune functions had improved by 80-90%. Vitamin E neutralizes free radicals, protects our bodies tissues and cells and prevents damage from oxidation. Vitamin E is found in seed oils, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, egg yolks, wheat germ, nuts and butter. Vitamin E needs to be taken for at least two years before the benefits to the heart are obvious. The recommended dose is 400IU and this is difficult to get from food. For example, you would have to eat 22 cups of peanuts or more than five pounds of wheat germ. Stick to natural Vitamin E and avoid the synthetic product.
