Many people would agree that these days, money makes the world go round. Well in a sense, people live for money. People work for money. Some would say that people would do anything for money. In fact, money can buy many things in this world including superficial love. In fact, one’s worth and humanity is sometimes measured by how much money he or she has. People would look at your clothes, your shoes, your car, your house, as signs if you have little or much money and that would signal how you would be treated. But if we would have an honest to goodness assessment of money, one would realize that money is the only product that the world produces that has no innate value except for exchange. If one would get lost in the middle of the jungle, all your money would have no use except for fuel– burn it and you will feel warmer. Money having no value in itself except for exchange has now become a measure of value even to the point of being more valuable than human life. Look at how the billions of poor has become impoverished because of the mad scramble for profit–for money. Look at how people measure human dignity and demean it because of money. Look at how people die in countless wars because of money. And look at how power and money got together and doomed the world in the nothingness of money. And yet the most priceless acts of this world still cannot be bought by money–the integrity of the humble, the bravery of the oppressed, heroic friendships, a genuine smile– these cannot be bought by money. 🙂 As the saying goes, “The best things in life are free!”

Look how money has captured our careers–instead of really doing what we want and what would really make us happy and fully self actualized, we instead choose careers that pay. Thus we sacrifice the best parts of our lives in endeavors that make money and at the end of our lives we live to regret that we haven’t done what we really like to do. Look at how money has captured our values–we have given our souls to commercialism and materialism and sharpness and courage of our spirits. Now it seems that all things has a money equivalent even love, friendship, integrity, principle, visions, and life itself. Look at how we have sacrificed the human race for money. The mad scramble for profit has left the world devastated by grinding poverty where the rich becomes richer and fewer and the poor multiply exponentially. But in the end, the human spirit will prove victorious over the lordship of money and prove it nothing compared to priceless human virtues such as justice, peace, love, equality, truth.
